Customers can use a combination of 25 colors and materials, which range anywhere from 18 cents per cubic centimeter to 20 dollars. Shapeways started out in 2007 as a project in Philips Electronics Lifestyle Incubator program, and upon launching as an independent company in 2010, it moved its headquarters to New York City. i.materialise is the 3D printing service arm of Belgian additive manufacturing firm Materialise NV. Their website features tutorials and an Easy Creation page with gateways to browser- based 3D design applications Tinkercad, 3D Tin and Google SketchUp. Plus, i.materiali…se hosts a design gallery where customers can buy and sell custom 3D designs which i.materialise will then print-to-order. Users can have their objects printed in up to 20 combinations of colors and materials. Sculpteo offers nine color and material options, from resin to colored plastics, to silvered-coated plastic. Prices range between $42.00… per 5cm of white plastic at the low end, up to $80.00/5cm for silver. Sculpteo service is currently available in Europe and North America. The website includes such bells and whistles as template-based project wizards, real- time pricing tools and integration with 3D design applications like Blender and SketchUp. Sculpteo launched its Pro Sculpteo service aimed at professionals back in March 2011.
